Contra Costa County Petite Sirah — one of California's most characterful underdog varieties.
Cline has farmed the warm, historic vineyards of Contra Costa County for decades, where old vines planted in deep sandy soils produce Petite Sirah of extraordinary concentration. Cool nights temper the heat, preserving freshness and acidity in a variety that can easily tip into heaviness in lesser hands.
Tasting Notes
Complex aromas of coffee, mocha, baking spice, and ripe blackberry on the nose. On the palate, big and full-bodied with fresh acidity and medium, grippy tannins that give the wine real structure and character.
The Finish
Supple and lingering — the kind of finish that makes you appreciate why Petite Sirah deserves far more attention than it gets.
