Since 1972, Chuck Wagner has made Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon with a singular conviction: that great wine should be as approachable in its youth as in its maturity. The Napa Valley Cabernet draws from a range of sub-appellations — Coombsville to Calistoga — with valley-floor fruit providing lushness and hillside blocks contributing structure and backbone. This deliberate diversification is what gives Caymus its consistency across vintages, and the 2023 is no exception.

Tasting Notes

Layered and inviting on the nose, with cocoa, cassis, and ripe dark berries that speak to the warmth of the vintage. On the palate, the wine is generous and full-bodied — lush fruit at the core, framed by ripe, well-integrated tannins that never feel heavy. The texture is characteristic Caymus: plush and approachable, with enough structure to reward a few years of patience.

The Finish

Warm and fruit-driven, with cassis and a touch of dark chocolate carrying through to a satisfying close. Ready to drink now and will continue to open through 2030.
