Jolie-Laide's approach to Syrah is shaped by a simple belief: that the variety's finest expressions come from cool climates where ripeness is earned slowly rather than given freely. Winemaker Scott Schultz sources from Sonoma Coast sites where Pacific influence keeps temperatures low and hang time long, producing fruit with the kind of savoury, peppery character that defines great Northern Rhône Syrah. At 13% ABV, this is a wine of deliberate restraint — and all the better for it.

Tasting Notes

Dark plum, cracked black pepper, and a whisper of violet open the nose with quiet authority. On the palate, savoury dark fruit is the core — layered with mineral tension and a fine, focused tannin structure that gives the wine genuine backbone without weight. This is Syrah that earns its complexity from the vineyard, not the cellar.
