Named for the violet wildflower that grows around the vineyard — Nero d'Avola at its most expressive.

Plumbago is Planeta's single-variety Nero d'Avola, produced from old vines around Lago Arancio in Menfi — a site that delivers a soft, fruity, and deeply characterful expression of Sicily's greatest indigenous red grape. The name comes from the beautiful violet-coloured wildflower that grows in the woods surrounding the baglio and vineyards.

Tasting Notes
Full violet-purple in the glass — a colour that demands attention. Dominated by aromas of ripe plums and wild blackberries, with pleasantly complex notes of incense, jasmine, and black truffle adding intrigue and depth. Rounded tannins and perfectly integrated oak make this an immediately pleasurable wine.

The Finish
Smooth and generous, with dark fruit and a whisper of spice carrying through to a warm, satisfying close. A natural partner to grilled and barbecued meats.
