Robert Parker called Jean-Luc Thunevin "Saint-Émilion's Bad Boy" — and the name stuck.
Jean-Luc Thunevin is one of Bordeaux's most celebrated and unconventional winemakers — a pioneer of the garage wine movement who built his reputation on small-production, intensely concentrated wines from Saint-Émilion. Bad Boy is his most playful expression: a wine with a comic-strip label designed by his longtime friend Éric Soulat, and a character that lives up to the name.
Tasting Notes
Aromas of black plum, blueberry, claypot, chocolate, spice, and cedar on the nose. Blended primarily from Merlot with a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2016 delivers a full body, polished tannins, and balanced acidity. The finish shows beautiful fruit notes of tart red currant, tart cherry, anise, leather, incense, chocolate, and cedar.
The Finish
Long and complex, with dark fruit and spice fading slowly on a polished, satisfying close.
